Baseboards or skirting boards………they are all through your beautiful home. But when did you last clean them? Would you like to know how to clean baseboards?

How To Clean Baseboards

There are a few options on how to clean baseboards, so I’ll share a few with you, and you can decide on the best baseboard cleaning method for your home. You should aim to clean your baseboards at least once a month. You can follow my cleaning routine to keep on top of this cleaning task.

Skirting Boards Cleaned

WASH BASEBOARDS

Down on hands and knees. This method of cleaning baseboards, is the way I do it. But I will admit it takes time, but to me is the most effective.

Grab you favourite all purpose cleaner, and a microfibre cloth. Spray a section of your baseboard and then wipe clean with your microfibre cloth. Keep repeating this around the room until complete.

MOP BASEBOARDS

A mop. There are a few mops available to choose from, but I have used the string type before. I just fill a bucket with hot soapy water, wring out my mop, and run it along my baseboards.

I find this method is ok if you don’t have any hard to remove stains or marks on your baseboards.

DUST BASEBOARDS

A duster. This method is good if you ONLY have dust on your baseboards, and no marks or spills to remove. You can either use a duster, or grab some dryer sheets and run them along your baseboards. Using dryer sheets, not only easily removes the dust, it will also leave a thin layer of fabric softener on your baseboards, making them dust free for longer.

VACUUM BASEBOARDS

While you have the vacuum out cleaning the floors, use the hose attachment and run it over your baseboards.

KID FRIENDLY METHOD

If your little one likes to help around the home, get them to put a pair of old socks onto their hands, and run them along the baseboards to remove the dust.
